YSL Libre: model new perfume

The new perfume from YSL, Libre. For all those who are bored to death with banal, indistinguishable fruity-floral compositions. YSL introduced Libre with an uplifting campaign featuring singer and model Dua Lipa. This is an unexpected collaboration. I find it surprising because of the associations I have with the brand and the music star - and they are completely different. The perfume, the bottle, the campaign create a wonderful proposition for women.

YSL Libre bottle

YSL Libre has an ultra-elegant packaging and seems to refer to the gold-dripping, demonstrative style of the 1980s. The fragrance is enclosed in a square bottle reminiscent of a 80's power-suit. The black lacquered cap is wrapped in a golden chain. The flacon is wrapped in a golden YSL monogram. It's elegant in a decadent manner. 

The YSL Libre bottle is beautiful, simple yet luxurious.

Meanwhile, the face of the perfume is singer Dua Lipa, a model, and singer with a fresh and sincere image. I must admit that I really like this combination. 

Contrasts can be found not only here. YSL Libre is one of the few premieres that stands out on the perfume shelf. After seeing the bottle I was a bit afraid of vanillic or musky heaviness. What a delight it was to discover that the actual scent is classy,  bright and full of character.  I often leave the perfumery disappointed because recently all the perfumes smell the same to me. But with YSL Libre it was different. 

YSL Libre notes

 The Libre is a composition of well-known accords put together in a beautiful way. The Libre top notes are defined by high-quality lavender, intertwined with tangerine, blackcurrant and petitgrain. Petitgrain, sometimes called bitter orange, together with herbal notes of lavender and green, sour blackcurrant creates a wonderful opening.  In the heart of the perfume you will find white flowers: jasmine is here combined with an orange flower. The base of the scent is warm and pleasant, built on vanilla and musk, mixed with woody cedar note. 

YSL Libre perfumers

YSL Libre was composed by famous perfumers Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaim. Both of them have created some bestselling perfumes in the past. Flipo is an author of Lancome's La Vie Est Belle and Benaim of CK Euphoria. YSL reflects a similar approach to perfume, is loud and clearly aimed at the wide public. But unlike the aforementioned sweet poisons, it has much more intelligence and class.
